“He’d tried so hard to put together a romantic evening for the two of us, but it had just ended in disaster. After my near run-in with anaphylaxis, he’d insisted that I go to the emergency room. I tried convincing him that there was no need. The EpiPen had done the trick; I didn’t need emergency care, but he wasn’t hearing it.

He gave me some strong meds to ward off the breathing issues the flowers had caused, so by the time we were in the Jeep on the way home, I was finally able to breathe through my nose again.
