“She was outside by about ten a.m., strategically planting the seeds she’d bought the day before. She had a plan in mind for a little patch of land near the back patio that could become a lovely nighttime haven for her friend if it worked out as she hoped.
She made the holes for each seed with precision and dropped one in each, covering it with a fine layer of dirt. The earth here was very rich in nutrients. The seeds should have a good shot at reaching their full potential with little outside h...elp. Sally could read plants. She understood soil. She could hear the whisper of the wind through the trees and listened to its song. It was instinctive and something she’d never questioned though she knew it was different.
