They had at least allowed her to remove the wig, cotton batting, and the uneven brogans, but at the moment her comfort was the least of her problems. She had to get out. “What is it?”
“A simple robe. It’s what you are to wear for your trial. I made it myself.”
“And if I refuse?”
“Then you’ll be presented as naked as a niggress on the slave block.
