“There was speech, in a language she didn’t understand, the movement of a horse, and the feeling of a hard, bare chest against her cheek. Her head throbbed horribly, and she kept her eyes closed while trying not to throw up from the pain. As the darkness pulled her back, she didn’t resist.The next thing she registered was the smell of meat cooking, and a woman’s voice singing Ave Maria.
