“Walker asked what happened as he jumped in to help stem the flow of blood, but Nate had no time for explanations, or for wondering why Joe and the others had suddenly reappeared in his field. “We should let them work.” Joe’s voice was calm, and as bad as the guilt gnawed at Nate, he saw only sympathy in Joe’s eyes.
