Sylvie looked at those lovely girls, with their round bodies accustomed to very little work at all apart from, perhaps, the sort that took place on a mattress or the sort that took place on the White Lily’s stage. And wondered how they would cope with the pain and discipline, the nuance and complexity— But she needn’t tell them it was difficult, or painful, or that few really excelled at it.
