“Strawberries don’t wait for good weather, so I dragged myself down to breakfast. This time I heeded Mom’s advice when she told me to take my rain slicker and rain pants and to dress warmly underneath. “You can always peel down if you get hot,” she said, “but there’s nothing worse than being damp and cold all day long.” As we rode out to the field in the truck, I checked out what the rest of the crew were wearing.
