“He could still feel the rush of blood in his ears and the pounding of his heart when he’d seen Darlene about to die. Pierce ordered his driver to take him to his commission merchants office, then relaxed back into the plush leather upholstery of the carriage. No, Darlene wouldn’t kill herself.
