Although the bottle was ice-cold, he abruptly felt much colder.

But this disconcertingly realistic vision of Lena proved that something truly was wrong with him. It had to be mental disease, Alzheimer’s—something like that. He refused to consider any other explanation. Because any other explanation would drive him crazy in earnest.
