There is something about the way Junior Diaz writes and the subtly of the portrayals of his world and his characters that I can't help but love. I especially liked the changes in perspective. For all of Yunior's fuck-ups he never feels made up or over the top. He's a tragic figure, perhaps, but never a villain or an idiot. All that being said, I didn't really feel all that much of a connection to this book. I think I've just become tired of reading about men who can't help but be like their fathers.MoreLess
