“It was not in the nice benign way that people looked at pregnant women, either, but one that gave her cold prickles at the back of her neck. It crackled in her psychic airspace that she was somehow the subject of gossip; she caught just one too many stares lingering in her direction followed by covered whispers for it all to be down to an over-active imagination.
