He was steadier, more thoughtful and…so why had he carried her off to Scotland? That did not quite ring true to Samantha. Toby was more likely to have approached her brother and asked for his permission than elope with his love. Yet the pair had undoubtedly run off together – and Eleanor’s letter had said they were headed for Scotland. Perhaps the letter had been her idea – to put them off the scent of their true destination.
