    Scylla glanced at him a trifle anxiously. There had been a note of sincerity in his voice; and it had not escaped her notice that during the last feast his gaze had been frequently attracted to the Bai’s youngest wife, a beautiful kittenish laughing creature called Sripana, hardly more than fourteen, the pet of the whole establishment.
