In ECLIPSE, Bella looked into the crackling bonfire. She felt comfortable sitting in the circle with her Quileute friends, waiting to have the privilege of hearing their legends. “I was treated like someone who belonged,” she would recall. 4 Stephenie Meyer set the stage for Bella to hear a story that would speak to her decision to become a vampire. And as it had been done since prehistory, the gathering around the fire told the story of the people. It was a history they wanted to share with Be...lla, a story of vampires and werewolves.
The Twilgiht Saga: Eclipse screenplay picks up the ancient tale in 1750 when two Quileute warriors encountered what seemed to be a Spaniard standing over the bodies of two dead girls from the tribe. The stranger was a vampire, and the warriors phased into wolves. The wolves’ teeth tore the Spaniard apart, but not before the vampire killed one of them. It took fire to finish off the Cold One. The Quileute villagers lived in fear that more vampires would come.
