Rand says: Not often I give up on a book, but I've found myself giving up on a few just lately. I got about a third of the way into this and found it so repetitive and the plot machinations so obvious that I couldn't possibly carry on. I've forgiven Terry Goodkind a lot over the years because the stories have been a bit of a guilty pleasure, but if its not a pleasure I'm just left with the guilt! There are too many good fantasy books out there (sorry, I know you said you're not writing fantasy..., Mr G!) so I'll pick up another. tcnose says: Things are getting real! So at the end of the first confessor you found out how they defeated Sulachan and his army of the walking dead, ( yes Goodkind calls them the walking dead, maybe he's a fan?) So Richard has once again found himself in a bit of a pickle, and he has lost his powers once again. He is never going to learn how to use his powers if he can't ever keep them! The poor guy. I did however like that Zedd seems more like himself in this book. The end is a little sad, but you have to lose a little something to give a story that meaty bit that makes you want to read on. The sword of truth series is still a great read.MoreLessRead More Read Less
