He was clearly disappointed, and the sight filled Mariah with gratification as much as empathy. Never in her life had a man cared this much about her and her pursuits. Zay...ad Fandal was a great lover and he was an amazing friend. She was lucky to know someone like him.
Though a little cursed, as well.
She went to him, put her arms around him. “You’ve been wonderful. Thank you.”
“I have not found you your answers.”
“You’ve done the best you could.”
“No, but I will.”
“I’ll figure this out.”
“With my further assistance.”
