The people on this list were delegated to friendship purgatory, so to speak, unless they had a death in the family, in which case they were legitimately excused from sending ...a holiday card that year. This was an important mental list, and so you grew up thinking that there were very few things that were more important than sending holiday cards to your friends and family during the holiday season. Sending holiday cards is a genetic impulse that has been passed along to you.
