“Such gross defiance caused Prince Maurice to lay siege to the town and we have made our headquarters at Hilton Farm, not half a mile from the church of St Leonard on the hill overlooking the town and the river. At the farm I share my quarters with six other officers while Prince Maurice and his servants have the best chamber.
