“The arrogance of The Sentinel As soon as I was there I severed the connection between us. The pain instantly stopped. She had fallen through the floor of another barn some ten or fifteen feet above us into what appeared to be a cellar. But the fall itself hadn’t done the damage; it was the sharp metal fence pole that she had impaled herself on. It had quite simply torn right through her shoulder and was sticking up in the air, shiny with her blood. I knelt by her side, her breathing was shallow... and erratic. I grabbed her hand, frantically wondering what I could possibly do to help her.
