She did not for one second believe that they would actually work, or that the court magicians here hadn’t already tried most of them, but she didn’t trust people to do their jobs correctly. Especially with a king breathing down their necks, they would likely have made a hash of even mundane spells. Besides, sometimes she was pleasantly surprised and those mundane spells worked.
