“Ah, there you are!” Salvestro greeted them. “We’re about to have breakfast.”
He was sitting on a chair in the center of the low-ceilinged room. At the other end, two women, one old, the other middle-aged, were trying to cower each behind the other. “Or maybe it was your mother?” Salvestro went on.
“He means to … Oh, Jesu, gather me now!” the old woman cried out.
“It was not here, Salvestro,” said Groot.
