“Then he changed into a fresh shirt and walked down to the Old Quarter, tacking back and forth across the narrowing streets to stay in the shade. After twenty minutes had passed, Faustino began to wonder if he’d got his timing wrong. He hadn’t. A small group of tourists emerged from the church, hastily rummaging in their bags and pockets for sunglasses.
