Bradford rubbed a hand over his eyes and then dragged his palm across several days’ worth of stubble. “How bad is it?” he said.
“You need a really good lawyer.”
Lips pressed together, he glanced off to the side.
“I’ve already called the local U.S. consulate,” she said, “as well as the embassy in Tokyo. I’ll contact your office once I get out of here today—I didn’t want to call them until I had something worth saying.MoreLess
