“That would make you a Lieutenant Colonel, Allex, the only rank that separates a major and a full bird colonel. No wonder he was so solicitous.” He laughed again. It was good to see him in a pleasant mood.
  *   I pulled into the parking lot of the trailer rental, where the unit we wanted waited still jacked up. I finished changing the tire, spun the lug nuts on, and consented to Jim tightening them down, one handed.
