Strongheart took off down the other side of... the ridge, then doubled back, reached the top of the ridge, and doubled back again down the gentle ridgeline, making three sets of tracks going both up and down the ridge. He went into a stream running along the bottom of the gulch to the east and slowly walked through the stream until he came to a rocky bank, left the stream, and carefully rode up the opposite ridge a short distance. Why are all these expert gunmen specifically after Strongheart. Why not also after his superiors who are far easier to get at. This is a big flaw in this book, apart from the laborious, stilted language of the dialogue. This gy is a very poor writer, how the devil was he able to sell books, even get an editor to accept them.In the previous book, which I had to abandon, Strongheart, way out West, is already wearing Levis which were only invented the year before, when the patent was taken out.

Sorry, I have to quit reading this book after his cousin gcame to visit him in the night. I can't stand the stilted language of the "pld" west indians....His treatment of love and attraction between the sexes is so corny and stupid, exactly like the sad story of his late wife, which I respect, but don't want to see on every 4th or 5th page of his books.

Another stupid mistake His boss has two LARGE holes in his chest. They could only be "large" if they were exit holes and he had been shot in the back.And they are not really "holes" but lacerations, as the flesh under the skin closes over bullet wounds.
