‘It’s all arranged, Sophia,’ my aunt said, her voice slightly higher pitched than usual. ‘Your father and I agreed it whilst you were unwell.’ She turned back to the dressmaker. ‘I’m to be Demeter and plan to carry a wheat sheaf.
