“"How long have we been out?" "About 15 minutes." Sam looked around them and then turned towards San Bernardino. Larry rode up to his son and gently placed a hand on his shoulder.
"They won't hurt them, Son." Sam looked at his father and forced a smile and nodded. Scott slowed his horse and looked down.
"Hey, over here. Look at this." He jumped off his horse and knelt down. Sam rode over and did the same. Scott picked up a small bit of cloth. It was red, the same red that Chelsea had been ...wearing when she was taken.
Sam smiled and took it.
"Dad, look!" Sam ran over to Larry and Grant. Larry took the cloth and Grant nodded.
"Ok, we know they went in this direction. Let's ride back to camp and let the others know." They all mounted their horses except Scott, who was distracted by a rustling in the brush next to him. He turned back towards the brush and leaned in, but didn't see anything. Then he turned and looked up at Elian.
"Hey, El, did you hear that?" Elian turned his head and looked down at Scott, but before he could answer, several of the Black Hordesmen charged out of the bushes. Scott reached for his sword, but the one of the Horde soldiers sliced at him. Bright cardinal spread quickly through Scott's cut shirt and he fell.MoreLess
