“A week of harmony, at least on the surface. Every morning, Virginia left the cottage for Drumvagen, returning only at the gloaming, as the Scots called it. Except for those times when he visited Elliot when she was there, she didn’t see Macrath. They didn’t converse. He didn’t threaten, and she didn’t try to convince him of anything.
