"What we need is a town marshal that will send these folks packing. Somebody we can trust to do the right thing." He paused, and there were murmurs of agreement.

"Tou should have heard those Spanish men yell". Didn't L'amour, just a few pages back state clearly that these men were NOT Spanish, but Basque, which is a separate race, in a separate part of the country, contiguous with Spain, actually between France and Spain, although attached to Spain, are autonomous.
