“She had felt Trace’s avid gaze on her all through supper, all through the game of Scrabble they’d played at the table afterward, and even while she got Eli and Hannah ready for bed. She knew he’d be coming to her after everyone was asleep. Her body betrayed her by wanting it to happen.
