“His meeting at the Grande was scheduled for ten, but he wanted to leave now in hopes that he could say hello to Brinn. The past two days he’d been working nonstop. He and Brinn had spoken on the phone and texted, but between the increasing schedule at the bakery and his upcoming meeting, they hadn’t seen each other much. The landline rang.
