“Elliott demanded on Sunday. “I thought you liked him—I thought you were gonna keep him?”
“I can’t keep him,” Garrison said for the second time. Elliott had popped in to say a friendly hello, but had grown increasingly irate after discovering that Harry had found a new home.
“Why not?”
“Because I have to get back to Seattle. My job starts—”
“You’re leaving?”
“Well, yeah . . . I have to—”
“What about the halfway house? My grandmother said you might make this place into a h...alfway house for guys?”
“That was just a dream, Elliott. A dream that takes money.”
“What about faith, man?” Elliott glared at him with dark eyes. “You been talking to me about being a man of faith? Where’s your faith now?”
