ebie says: Tell the Wolves I’m Home by Carol Rifka Brunt is an extraordinary coming-of-age novel -- 14-year-old June fell in love years ago with her uncle and godfather Finn Weiss, a famous painter and charismatic character. June shares his fascination with Medieval art, imagining herself living in that period when she plays alone, which she does a lot, being a loner and a dreamer by nature. In 1987, when Finn is dying of AIDS, he decides to paint a portrait of June and her sister Greta. The rela...tionship between the sisters has become antagonistic in recent years, and the relationship between Finn and his sister, their mother, seems a bitter one, as well. After Finn dies, his partner, the man their mother blames for Finn’s disease, gets in touch with June. He wants to give her things Finn wanted her to have, but also to share their memories, ultimately to take care of one another. They develop a friendship that will change both their lives and her family’s. Biddy says: I probably wouldn't have picked this one up if it weren't my book club's pick for this month, but I'm so glad I did. I loved this book. I loved the main character and could totally relate to her, and I loved the development of her relationships with all of the other characters in the novel. The writing is clear, unpretentious, and gripping, and it drew me right into the story. While the ending of the book isn't completely unexpected, it still moved me. There should be a lot for our book club to talk about with this one; I'm looking forward to it!MoreLessRead More Read Less
