“I pace back and forth in the lounge, completely confused about what just happened.

The sensible part in me tells me, she doesn’t. She’s scared and she’s hurting and that’s why she wants to be with me tonight. I wait a little longer then push open the door.
She’s flat out on her back, fast asleep. When I walk closer, I can see the tear marks still wet on her face and it takes everything in me not to reach out and wipe them away, not to walk around the bed and slide in next to her and pull her to me, making sure she knows I understand.
