My eyes popped opened and I looked at her above me. She looked worried and tired. "What's the matter, sweetheart?" She sighed and smiled in exasperation. "Good Lord, do not try to pick me up right now." She pulled my good arm until I was sitting. I was groggy and nauseous. "Sorry. Gotta get dressed. We need to go." "Where am I?" I asked, even as I looked around the room. It was a hospital room. I looked back at her in panic. "We can't be here." "Duh, I'm trying to get you out of here." "How long have I been here?" She pulled the shirt over my head and yanked the gown off in one pull. "The better question is why am I here?" "You had an infection," she said slowly, helping me with my pants and socks.
