“A few people had seen me with her at the cinema, and they’d told other people that I was with this beautiful girl, and I think it made everyone look at me in a new way. It was as if Alicia gave me a makeover. I think that was how I ended up going to McDonald’s with Nikki Niedzwicki on the night before my sixteenth birthday. (That’s how it’s spelt.
