In something of a reflective mood, and wishing for a quiet morning, I resisted the urge to call down to Mrs Hudson for breakfast; instead I buttered a round of toast, heaped the bacon and fried egg upon it and topped it with a second slice, generously spread with mustard. Ruminatively I munched my cold sandwich beside the fire, and pondered when and how this adventure might finish.
