“Kim asked, walking into the kitchen. “Ouch.” Her mom plopped a tray of cookies onto the stovetop and snatched back her hand, putting her thumb to her mouth. “Sorry, I didn’t hear you drive in. How was the youth meeting?” “Good.” Except a summons to the police station had cut short her opportunity to glean information from the youths following the meeting. She shivered. The officer had said her purse-snatcher-slash-car-vandal couldn’t see her through the one-way glass, but his soulless glare had... chilled her to the core. Mom glanced at the clock. “The meeting must’ve been good.
