The cars drove away in the general direction of the airport, then I said, "We'll give them a few minutes to make sure they don't come back for anything." Five minutes went by. I glanced at Doc and Shimmy before getting out of the car. Their faces told me they were ready.
In less than a minute, I stood at the door of the house. I was uneasy under all that light; shit, it was like daylight up there.
Fortunately, the door opened before I had a chance to knock.
