““Yeah, but…I know Sam. I think I might have a chance.” I couldn’t stop smiling – good thing we were on the phone and not talking face to face. I was already imagining how the night could go. I’d take her to dinner just like I told her I would, giving me a chance to let her know that things with my dad and the business had all worked out. After that, it didn’t really matter where we ended up – I just wanted to be with her.
“Well…you know her better than I do. Hopefully she shows up. B...ut for real, you waited outside her door for four hours?”
I laughed a little, something I hadn’t done in weeks. “And I’d do it again.”
“If I thought there was something I could do or say to increase your chances, I’d help you out, but she wasn’t exactly receptive to me when I called her yesterday.”
I stretched out on my bed and listened.
“I was asking her about where she’d been – asked her if there was another dude.”MoreLess
