“They weren’t even going to pretend to talk about a book tonight. They were having a little party to celebrate Missy’s forthcoming baby girl. It wasn’t a shower. They wouldn’t dare call it that. Everyone knew it was tacky to have a shower for a second child, but they weren’t ones to let a milestone pass without some sugar and champagne.
