“She was walking so fast that he had to nearly run to keep up with her. He had no idea what was said to her on the phone call she’d gotten, but whatever it was, she was pissed. When she stopped at the nurse’s station, he took a deep breath and decided that he’d had enough running after her. He asked her what the hell was going on.
“Someone paid off my student loans.” He started to tell her congratulations, but he could see by the spark in her eye he might keep breathing if he didn’t. “Some fucki...ng bastard paid off my student loans, as well as put money in my account, and it wasn’t Blair. And as soon as I see this guy, I’m going to tell him about privacy laws and doing things underhanded that could get him killed.”
That had been his first guess, that Blair had paid them off, and he was glad he didn’t say that. Then when she asked the nurse if Ewing was still there, he thought of his old friend from college. There was no way that he’d be there.
