Charles looked drunk to me. When Charles got drunk, Charles got mean. This was common knowledge in Lone Oak. Charles Domini owned the only other big ranch in the area; the Domini Ranch had been around as long as the Bennett Ranch.
The difference was that Charles, unlike Glen, was not popular with the locals. Charles was too prone to being drunk and mean, and his ranch was run-down and ...untended. He sat in the middle of a small group of people, which included several rough-looking men and his wife, Pat. The men all seemed pleased at Charles's statement. Pat looked disgusted.
