She was entranced by thoughts of color schemes and wall embellishment when Slate came rushing up behind her, pulling a hand through his hair as he took steps that seemed to cover the ground with almost effortless ease. In a few bounds, he was behind Teresa, drawing her into his protective, loving embrace.
