“The burning on his chest intensified as he struggled to remove his shirt. Coming through the doorway was like plunging into icy waters, but without getting wet. The cold was so sudden that the air was sucked from his lungs. He squeezed his eyes shut hoping fervently that the pain would pass. Aaron looked down at his chest expecting to see blistering skin but instead saw a perfect reproduction of the carved relief from the medallion. The dragon with his wings folded out holding a rose with the white pearl in the center. The pain subsided fading to a harsh burning ache.
