The bouquet it was from belonged to an older woman, one of six patients moved when Emeril ordered the room be made private. Hawking’s sudden fame as the only witness to the killer’s work had also earned him police guards and a mob of reporters. Emeril explained he was also keenly worried about exposing Hawking to the cholera and typhoid common here.
