“Something smelled amazing, and he didn’t really care if it was just a dream. He sighed and moved toward the warm scent. It tickled his nose, and he blinked one eye open. Curly brown hair blocked his view. He frowned and sat back a little before opening his other eye. Quietly sleeping, Jenna rested her head against his shabby cot. “Jenna?” She stirred in her sleep and lifted up her sleepy head. Rem watched as she opened her eyes. It took a moment for her to register what was going on. “You’re aw...ake,” she said quickly and scrambled to her knees. With a laugh of pure joy, she tossed herself at him. Still weak, Rem fumbled backward, more than a little confused. She sat up quickly and stared hard at him. “How do you feel?” she asked. Rem placed a hand to his head. “Like I got hit with a train.” The bed dipped as she climbed off. She poured a glass of water. Jenna came back and handed him the glass. “Drink this,” she said.
