I was surprised by how much I liked this book. It was a fast read and entertaining from beginning to end. I love zombie stories. I have read and watched enough that I like to focus on the little twists that each book or movie puts on the standard end of the world story. Red Hill does not break any new ground on the Zombie Apocalypse plot but I was in the mood for a predictable (in a good comforting way) living dead story.

Me reading a "zombie" apocalypse book?! Never crossed my mind ,
never bothered before, never watched any of the major zombie hit shows..have nothing against them but they are not actually my thing.I was totally hooked with the book, joining the characters fight for their lives. The writing was excellent but I have to admit I can't decide if I agreed with the decisions they took though I don't know if put in the same situation should I react like them or not. What I loved about the book is appreciating the last moments and those little things we all take for granted, never leave your loved ones with words of anger and unexpressed love, never invest more than required of your time in work, studies or whatever keeps you away from the real life. And you do have to workout till you can run fast and nonstop in case of zombies chasing you.I have mixed feelings about Scarlet 's behavior and if she was selfish or just being a mother. Is her girls life worth more than the others she jeopardized their lives in stake? Indeed it's more than worth for her but not for those who lost their lives and their loved ones. The girls showing up and surviving all those months only for the sake of a happy ending was unrealistic and unhappy as well with all the drama it caused. If it was just for rewarding Scarlet for all the effort and waiting, well I'm not sure she deserved it after sacrificing the others for her girls.I couldn't decide about Miranda either, was she selfish or was she in love or being in such chaos like the end of the world could catalyze a new group of reactions and behaviors that should be abnormal elsewhere?Kevin's story came as a solid proof that some people will never cease being creeps and scum no matter what! The characters I haven't mixed feelings about and loved for sure was Nathan, Cooper, Skeeter and Jill. Cooper was heroic for sacrificing his life for Zoe and was the sweetest thing the whole book. Skeeter was the tough rock you can depend blindly on and the most tender lover when it comes to providing emotions, his love and loyalty to Jill is amazing and it'll leave you in tears for Jill's death. Nathan came as the perfect mix between the father who can stop for nothing protecting his kid and providing her safety and unconditional love and the adorable understanding man every woman dream of.As a whole it's a good read and not just a zombie book. I enjoyed reading it.
