“He turned down the path that would lead him home. His family knew where he lived, but the only one who ever visited was his sister La, since he chose to live in a tree house. No one in his immediate family minded the heights; rather, they were lazy fucks who complained about the climb. Instead, they usually congregated at El’s house or Trott’s Bar. There was a doorless shed ...at the base of the tree to protect his bike from the elements. Steep, narrow steps spiraled around the trunk up to his house. Carved from another tree he felled himself, the steps blended with the bark.
He pulled into the open lean-to and shut the engine down, sliding the kickstand in place and allowed the bike to tilt gently to the side. The paint job was scratched where Greta toppled over. Gently, he ran his fingers over the scratches. He would take care of the damage soon.MoreLess
