The Union League of Philadelphia is the oldest among the remaining union leagues. It was founded in 1862 as a patriotic society to support the Union and the policies of President Abraham Lincoln. The Union League supported the American military in each conflict since the Civil War, and still follows its founding motto, "Love of Country Leads". The book tells about Union League activity.
